Biography of A. R. Rahman

A. R. Rahman



 Talented artists have been born in India from time to time but there are very few such artists who have left their mark in the whole world,  Brought Oscar Award and Grammy Award to India.  Whom people know today as A. R. Rahman.


 Life introduction


 He was born on 6 January 1967 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu India.  His father's name is RK Shekhar and mother's name is Karima Begum.

 His initial name was Arunachalam Shekhar Dilip Kumar Mudaliar, but due to his conversion, he changed his name to Allah Rakkhal Rahman.

 His father Rajagopal Kulasekhar was a musician in Malayalam films.  He inherited his music from his father.  When he was only 9 years old, his father died and a mountain of trouble had broken in his house.  The conditions of their house had deteriorated so much that the family members had to sell even their musical instruments to meet the expenses.  After this his family members adopted the religion of Islam.  At the behest of his mother, he changed his name to Allah Rakhaul Rahman.


 Education Introduction


 From his very beginning he was interested in music.  He received his early education in music from Master Dhanraj.

 He used to play Malayalam orchestra with his father at the age of 11.  He completed his early education from Madras Christian College Higher Secondary School and Intermediate from Madras Christian College.

 A. R. Rahman During his childhood, along with Shivamani, Rahman used to play big bands for the band Roots and also worked with many other bands.  He founded the rock group Nemesis Avenue in Chennai.  His talent grew so fast that he received a scholarship from the Music Department at Trinity College, London.  From there he received western classical music education.

 personal life

On 12 March 1994, A. R. Rahman married Saira Banu.  They have two daughters and one son.
 The names of the daughters are Khadija and Rahim, the name of the sons is Amin Rahman.

Career start

 A. R. Rahman  started his career from 1992.  In the same year he recorded his own song and was invited by film director Mani Ratnam to sing a music in his film Roja.  The film was a hit and R Rahman was given the Filmfare Award for this film.  His winning streak continues till now, more than 200 crores of his recordings have been sold.

 Today, A. R. Rahman is among the top 10 music composers in the world.  He has sung music in many films like Tehzeeb Bombay, Dil Se, Rangeela, Taal, Jeans, Pukar, Fiza, Lagna, Mangal Pandey, Swadesh, Rang De Basanti, Jodha Akbar, Jaane Tu Na Ya Jaane Na, Yuvraj, Slumdog  He has sung music in films like , Millionaire, Ghajini etc.

 He launched the album Vande Mataram on the 40th anniversary of India's independence.

 In the album 'Jana Gana Mana' under the direction of Bharatbalal, he assisted well-known personalities associated with Indian classical music.  Together with well-known choreographers Prabhudev and Shobhana formed a group of dancers from Tamil cinema, in which together with Michael Jackson performed stage shows.


 Awards and honors


A. R. Rahman is such an Indian who has received such awards and honors of the world which no Indian has received till date.


 In 1994, he was awarded the Mauritius National Award for his significant contribution to music.

 2  He received the National Award for Music four times.

 3 In the year 2000, India's highest award Padma Shri was awarded.

 4  He was also honored with the Lata Mangeshkar Award by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

 5 Laurence Oliver Award for First West End Production.

 6 A. R. Rehman has won Tamil Nadu State Film Awards 6 times.

 He was honored by Stanford University in 2006 for his significant contribution to music.

 8. He has won the Filmfare and Filmfare South Awards 11 times.

 9 Won the Golden Award for the movie Slum Dog Millionaire Global in 2009.

 10 Won Oscar Award for Music in British Indian film Slum Dog Millionaire.

 11 Won a Grammy Award in 2009 for music Jai Ho in the movie Slum Dog Millionaire.

 12  A. R. Rahman was awarded the Padma Vibhushan award in 2012.


 Filmography, the beginning of a career


 During an interview A.R.  Rahman told when he went to London in 2001 to play Hollywood Music.  Andrew Lloyd asked me if you had a story, then I started wondering why he asked me like this, I am a music composer.  Then slowly I started to feel that maybe I have limited myself to music and at that time was mixing with Shekhar Kapur.  Seeing them, slowly the thought of writing came in my mind.

 Then a story came to my mind when a boy wrote 100 songs for a girl.  Then I gradually went on to write more stories, and then decided that my first film should be the first story written by me.

 A.R.  The movie 99 Songs written by Rahman has been released in April 2021.


 public works


 A. R. Rahman became the Global Ambassador for the Stop TB Partnership by WHO in 2004.  He also extended support for the Children, and the Save India charity.  He worked with Yusuf Islam in the music Indian Ocean.


 Conclusion

 A. R. Rahman is a famous musician, from religion change to name change and music journey, in between all these, he has to face many problems.  There is a saying that if anyone has courage in life, success will come to him himself.
